My eyes widen as the server sets my Orlando Ice Cream Sundae on the table. My adoration for ice cream
runs deep. I’ve had a love affair with peanut butter, for as long as I can remember. Put them together in
a sundae, I am elated.
Orlando theme parks appreciate peanut butter lovers. Disney World and Universal offer peanut butter
inspired drinks, pastries, and ice cream sundaes. I’m wonder who has the best Orlando Ice Cream Sundae, starring one of favorite ingredients. I try both (for research).

Let the showdown begin!

Toothsome Chocolate Emporium-Universal City WalkUniversal Orlando
In this corner, is the Universal Orlando Ice Cream Sundae, May Contain Nuts. Though Toothsome is known for their outrageous, social-media-post worthy shakes, I can’t pass up the chance to try their May Contain Nuts, peanut butter sundae

May Contain Nuts-Peanut Butter Ice Cream, a slice of Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, Peanut
Brittle, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Peanut Butter Sauce, Whipped Cream, Reese’s Pieces
and nuts.

This Orlando Ice Cream Sundae, is presented in a fancy, modern, dish. I’ll admit upon arrival, it’s intimidating. The description mentions chocolate peanut butter pie, but an entire slice of pie, surrounded by all of the other sugary treats, is a sight.

The chocolate peanut butter pie is the star of this Orlando Ice Cream Sundae. The pie’s fudge-like texture, melts in my mouth. Due to Toothsome’s low lighting, there appears to be a lot of ice cream to tackle, but upon further inspection, I realize the whipped cream is set in ice cream-looking scoops. I’m not sure if I’m glad there’s less ice cream to tackle, or sad at the lack of ice cream. The peanut butter ice cream is creamy and light, but feels like an afterthought, in the Orlando Ice Cream Sundae. Instead of being chopped up, as they are in most peanut butter ice cream treats, the peanut butter cups are left intact. I finish the pie and ice cream, but leave the peanut butter cups, and the brittle? that seemed more like a piece of shortbread.

Beaches and Cream-Beach Club Resort-Disney World-No Way Jose

And in this corner, is the Disney World Orlando Ice Cream Sundae, the No Way Jose.

The No Way Jose forever plays second fiddle, to Disney World’s most famous ice cream sundae, The Kitchen Sink. There is no light show for the No Way Jose. No grand proclamations, about it’s ampleness, as servers carry the sundae from kitchen to table.

No Way Jose-Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, chocolate and peanut butter morsels, whipped cream, and a cherry on top.

The old fashioned, ice cream dish, fits perfectly with Beaches and Cream, old-timey, ice cream parlor, theme. The traditional No Way Jose, comes with scoops of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, I modify my Orlando Ice Cream Sundae, to contain only vanilla.

Though considered a delicacy in the early 1900s, the cherry on top of a sundae, is now used mainly for aesthetics. I pop it into my mouth first, to get it out of the way.

My spoon, easily glides through the ice cream. The warmth from the hot fudge, softens the scoops, without completely melting them. The ice cream is tasty, but the sauces are the Hercules of this sundae. Half-way through the sundae, the sauces, ice cream, and morsels, become one. It’s bite after bite of bliss.

When I first gaze upon my No Way Jose, I am sure there is “no way,” I’m going to finish the entire treat. The sundae is substantial. There is enough ice cream for more than one person to share.

I finish the entire sundae.

The Winner

drumroll

The No Way Jose.

To quote the wise sage, Jerry Seinfeld, “They got the fudge on the bottom– y’see? That enables you to control your fudge distribution as you’re eating your ice cream.”

The No Way Jose is the better constructed Orlando Ice Cream Sundae. The hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, and morsels are on the bottom, there is ice cream in the middle, then more sauce and morsels on top. Every spoonful of sundae, offers a balanced, delightful, bite.

Universal’s May Contain Nuts, is more dessert, than sundae. Being Toothsome Chocolate Emporium, it isn’t a surprise that this sugar bomb is more about the chocolate peanut butter pie. It’s still worth trying, but if you are sundae purist, and enjoy ample amounts of peanut butter, head to Disney’s Beaches and Cream for the No Way Jose.
