Disney World Ice Cream offers an endless selection. Usually when I say, we eat a lot of ice cream, it includes three, maybe four stops, but with so many opportunities, on this trip, we eat A LOT of ice cream.

Salt + Straw

In the ice cream enthusiast world, a visit to Salt + Straw, is a major mark, on the ice cream bucket list. Although I thought Disney Springs would be my first Salt + Straw experience, my initial visit occurs, several months prior, in Miami.

Visiting their Orlando location is no less exciting, because this visit, takes place in October, the month when Salt + Straw releases their special flavor, Don Bugito’s Creepy Crawly Critters. Yes, it is ice cream that contains actual mealworms and crickets. The ice cream base is Matcha flavor (to represent green grass). The crickets are chocolate covered. The mealworms are toffee brittle.

As a person who once ate three, non-sweet, bugs, in order to win a free hat, I’m eager to try a sweetened version.

The matcha flavor is well balanced, and doesn’t overpower the creamy ice cream. The bugs taste just like candy pieces.

In the end the bug pieces aren’t dissimilar to the other flavor I choose, Candytopia, loaded with familiar candy like, Kit Kat, Snickers, and Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Salt + Straw is popular for a reason. Their ice cream is expertly crafted, and you can sample flavors, you will not find anywhere else.

Shout out to Len, who also ate the bug ice cream.

Anandapur Ice Cream Truck

As you weave your way through Animal Kingdom, the exquisite design of Anandapur Ice Cream truck, is eye-catching.

The truck’s ice cream selections, cycle and change. I’m glad to visit at the time of the Yeti sundae.

The Yeti sundae is chocolate soft serve, topped with vanilla soft serve. The soft serve itself, is basic. This sundae exists for the toppings. Since blue is my favorite color, I’m delighted by the blue cake crumb and blue “snow” toppings.

As I eat my way through Disney desserts, during the week, I appreciate the printed-picture-chocolates. Each is its own work of art.

The sundae is enjoyable. There is something about being in a Disney Park, that automatically makes a sundae terrific.

L’Artisan Des Glaces

There are several places in Epcot, to get a frozen indulgence, but there is no place quite like, L’Artisan Des Glaces, in the France Pavilion.

First on the ice cream list, is the Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich. The sandwich this season is pumpkin spice. The macaron sandwich, is an ideal choice, if you want a light, not-too-filling, ice cream treat.

While roaming Epcot, I see many visitors, carrying around a sought-after, L’Artisan Des Glaces, ice cream martini. I desire to add it to my ice cream collection.

“Weren’t you in here earlier for a macaron?” the cast member inquires.

My enthusiasm for ice cream is clearly noticeable.

You can choose between three types of alcohol. I decide on the Grand Marnier.  The ice cream martini is visually pleasing, and tastes refreshing. It’s best with a perfect, equal, spoonful, of ice cream and beverage.

After experiencing multiple ice cream specialties from L’Artisan Des Glaces, in Epcot, my favorite is still the brioche ice cream sandwich.

Scat Cat’s Club Café

Sleeping only a brief stroll away, at Port Orleans Riverside Resort, beignets at Port Orleans French Quarter, seem like a must.

At Scat Cat’s Café, you can order plain beignets, seasonal beignets, boozy beignets, and my choice, a beignet sundae.

The beignets are Mickey shaped. Ice cream and whipped cream are loaded on top. We pick caramel as our sauce. The sundae is a good time, and there is enough to share. As a personal preference, I like my beignets to be crispy. The rapidly melting ice cream, serves as an anti-crisper. So if you like hot, crispy beignets, perhaps skip the ice cream. If you harbor a fondness for ice cream, adding beignets, can enhance your ice cream eating experience.

Storybook Treats

Auntie Gravity’s and Storybook Treats, are the two Magic Kingdom locations, to get picture perfect creations. The cones and sundaes change, based on holidays, celebrations, new attractions etc… It’s worth conducting a little research ahead of time, to know what most tickles your fancy. I’m drawn to the Seven Dwarfs series of cones. During our visit, Bashful is the featured dwarf.

The ice cream is a chocolate and orange swirl. It’s a scrumptious combination. My heart is happy (not bashful) over this cute cone.

Beaches and Cream

As a Disney Parks fan, ice cream fan, and peanut butter fan, my Disney ice cream repertoire could not be complete, without getting the famous, No Way Jose sundae. A trip to Beaches and Cream, never fit into the schedule, until now.

The sundae comes with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, but I opt for vanilla only. They do not scrimp on the chocolate or peanut butter sauce. There are ample amounts of both.

I could eat an entire dish of just peanut butter sauce.

This sundae lived up to the hype. The ice cream itself, is basic vanilla. The sauces are the highlight. I had zero intentions to finish the entire sundae, but it’s so yummy. I’m contented that I can finally say I ate a No Way Jose at Disney World.

If you are an ice cream enthusiast, or even a casual partaker, Disney World does not disappoint. From adventurous offers, like the flavors at Salt + Straw, to giant sundaes at the resorts, to themed cones at the parks, there is something for every ice cream pallet at Disney World.
