I did not know much about Homestead-Florida, as I researched our Everglades National Park trip. Unknown to me, was how many activities existed in this city, located between Miami and The Florida Keys. Many people just drive through, but it is worth a stop for exploration.
The Coral Castle
This popular, quirky, Homestead-Florida, tourist site, should be experienced at least once.
The tour only takes an hour or two max. If you like to be fascinated by interesting people, architecture, and/or conspiracy theories, it’s not to be missed.

Shiver’s BBQ
BBQ is one of my favorite cuisines, so I had to put this over-60-years-old restaurant on my places-to-eat list for Homestead-Florida. There are many things to love.
The log cabin building. The menu placemats, and the long, communal- picnic-table seating.
The nods to silliness.
The ribs are delicious, and I would visit, for the sides alone. Thanks to everyone who recommended the sweet potato soufflé, it did not disappoint.
On this trip, instead of our usual ice cream tour, we engaged in a key lime pie tour.
Shivers made the list as one of our favorite pies.
Biscayne National Park
The visitors’ center for Biscayne National Park is located in Homestead-Florida. Though you can pop into the visitors’ center for a quick visit, the park is best explored via water. Be sure to visit at least one of the islands in this unique National Park.
You can book a tour with the Biscayne National Park Institute, to experience the park by boat, kayak, or paddleboard.

Robert Is Here
More than just a fruit stand, Robert is Here, isn’t just apples and oranges. Gaze at the exotic fruit, pick up some snacks, fuel up with a fresh fruit smoothie, and say hi to the turtles (I’m fond of turtles).
Have a chat with Robert himself, or Miss Nellie.
It’s a number of things that add up to enjoyable.

Everglades National Park-Coe and Flamingos Visitors’ Center
One of the two main sections of Everglades National Park.
Whether you just want to take a leisurely drive through amazing scenery, canoe/kayak one of the water trails, or walk/hike the numerous dirt and/or boardwalk trails, Everglades National Park is a place to get in touch with nature.
You will see landscapes and wildlife you don’t get to see at most of the other National Parks.

Since our visit to the Homestead, Florida was brief, there are many other activities we didn’t get to participate in, but whether you make it a day trip from Miami, the Upper Keys, or make it your trip’s homebase, engaging in some things to do in Homestead- Florida, will be a satisfying endeavor.
