Sprinkles Cupcakes
Hearing the praises of Sprinkles Cupcakes sung far and wide, and learning of their cupcake-ice cream sundaes, I knew when we visited Disney Springs, it had to be stop number one.
I’ve seen pictures of long Sprinkles lines, but it was pleasantly uncrowded the night we arrived. In fact, I could have benefited from a longer line, because the ice cream flavors sounded so tasty, and all of the cupcakes looked like they belonged in my belly. I had great difficulty making my combination decision in a shorter than expected time.
Since I’m a sucker for anything peanut butter flavored, I chose the peanut butter ice cream and paired it with the banana cupcake. Shannon, being a fan of things dark chocolate, and being in the holiday spirit, ordered the candy cane ice cream with dark chocolate cupcake combo.
After ordering, we stepped over to the waiting area where we watched the hard at work employees ice the cupcakes. It was mesmerizing.
Once our order was ready, we took our treats outside to enjoy on the deck that sits over the water.
While out on the deck, a young man stood up and announced that it was his girlfriend Alex’s birthday. He then asked if everyone would sing happy birthday to her. He also held up a phone that had a group of people on the other end. The Sprinkles people and the phone people all sang a rousing rendition of happy birthday. Alex was mortified. It was fun.
Shortly after the birthday shenanigans, the Disney Springs drone light show started, so we got two shows with our sundaes.
This is a moment where I wish I could send a little sample to everyone reading this so you could try a cupcake-ice cream sundae, because words really will never do it justice. It was sooooooo good. The ice cream was creamy and bursting with peanut buttery goodness. The cupcake was moist, the icing was delicate and not overly sweet. It tasted like the best banana bread. The two just paired up so perfectly. I spent a few minutes zen-ing out in my little cupcake- ice cream nirvana.
If you are going to Disney Springs, I definitely recommend a visit to Sprinkles.
Joy Of Tea
While we were visiting Epcot, we stopped at The Joy of Tea in the China Pavilion to grab a snack before the dragon show.
The Joy of Tea has two flavors of ice cream to choose from, Caramel Ginger and Strawberry Red Bean. We got one of each flavor. I ate the caramel ginger which had no caramel taste, but PLENTY of ginger. I like ginger, but I found the amount of big chunks of ginger to be a little too much even for me. The Strawberry Red Bean did have chunks of red bean in it, but strawberry was the dominate flavor.
Now I’m of the belief that there is no such thing as bad ice cream, because, well…ice cream, but if I were in Epcot again, I would skip the ice cream at the Joy of Tea in favor of something from the France Pavilion’s L’artisan Des Glaces .
Ample Hills Creamery
Since we started off our trip with ice cream, we concluded that our trip should end with ice cream, so with just a few hours left before our departure, we made our way to Ample Hills Creamery at Disney’s Boardwalk.
Like Sprinkles, Ample Hills is a fairly new addition to Disney World’s ice cream repertoire. Unlike Sprinkles, whose interior is rather stark, Ample Hills embraces cute.
From the ice cream flow chart, to the castle mural, Ample Hills makes you smile.
Once again, we agonized over delicious sounding flavors, knowing that our general ice cream eating limit is two scoops.
I went with the PB Wins the Cup and Coffee Toffee Coffee. Shannon got a scoop of the Sally Sells Seashells and Peppermint Pattie.
All of the flavors were tasty. They definitely live up to their name, the ice cream is creamy. Shannon really liked the Sally Sells Seashells ice cream flavor, which tasted like orange creamsicle, but he wished that there was more ice cream and a few less chocolate shells.
We took our ice cream outdoors, and found a table near the water.
After all of the hectic park running around that we did earlier in the day, it was nice to have a moment of relaxation before heading home.
Final Thoughts
Though we weren’t overly thrilled with our ice cream at the Joy of Tea, we both agreed that Sprinkles and Ample Hills tied for best. We enjoyed the ice cream at both, and would certainly visit both again.

atWe also LOVE ice cream (I mean who doesn’t?) Disney world is even better! I grew up going to Disney every summer. Epcot has awesome varieties too because of the various “countries” that are there. Great post!

atThe Italy pavilion is definitely on the list when we go next time (hopefully for the opening of the Star Wars area)

atThat’s a lot of ice cream! We visited Epcot a couple of years ago and loved it. I’m ready for a return trip with an ample dining budget so that we can sample food and drinks from around the world. Great post!

atThanks! Epcot is such a great place to eat. It’s even harder to make decisions during the Food and Wine Festival.

atI didn’t know about any of these particular Disney ice cream shops, but I’m a sucker for the Mickey-shaped ice cream sandwiches from the kiosks in the parks. They’re always a great mid-afternoon pick-me-up, no matter what the weather in the park is!
