Art is captivating. It’s fascinating that a living being formulates a dream in their mind, then conveys that dream to others, through pictures, through sculpture, through written/spoken words, through food, movement, or sound. Art stirs spirit. This is why visiting Wynwood-Miami is encouraged.
Full disclosure, we visit Wynwood-Miami first, for the ice cream. Salt & Straw is a holy grail for ice cream enthusiasts. When I discover there are two Salt & Straws in Miami, I am filled with ice cream glee. Being engrained in the travel community, I’ve read many posts and have seen a myriad of pictures of art in Wynwood-Miami. Between the two, Miami, ice cream locations, Wynwood-Miami wins out.
Ice cream is an important, culinary art. The Salt & Straw in Miami offers one of my favorite inventions…the ice cream flight (the Salt & Straw at Disney Springs does not offer flights).
I enter the experience with some skepticism, unsure if Salt & Straw will live up to the hype. I’m not disappointed. The ice cream is creamy. The flavors are well-balanced and imaginative. If you need to have an ice cream shop in a neighborhood awash in creativity, Salt & Straw is a perfect fit.
Though all of the flavors I try are scrumptious, my favorite Salt & Straw flavor, is Cinnamon Snicker Doodle.
With our bellies full of creamy goodness, we stroll to the most famous area in Wynwood-Miami, Wynwood Walls.
Wynwood Walls is a street art museum. The grounds are filled with various types of art, but murals are the focus. Visiting Wynwood Walls is like surfing a sea of mural art.
Turns around every corner, provide a visual treat. Even the bathroom doors offer artsy delight.
I can’t imagine visiting Miami, and not experiencing Wynwood Walls.
Outside of the museum, the Wynwood-Miami neighborhood is bursting with eateries, shops, and art.
There is art for the serious contemplator, and art to make the quirky heart giddy (aka my heart).
Simply take a walk and look down, and you will see something to make you smile.
If your creative life is thirsty, take a trip to Wynwood-Miami, to refill your dehydrated soul.
