It’s no secret, that many people visit Universal Orlando specifically to see The Wizarding World, but Universal has plenty of fun to offer outside of the wands and Butterbeer.
Meeting Characters
Meeting characters at Disney World is an important part of the experience for most guests, but Universal has it’s fair share of characters too.
Characters from Nickelodeon Shows can be found.
Despite his grumpy exterior, Squidward is actually pretty nice.
There are beloved movie and television characters like Lucy, Doc Brown, and Beetlejuice. I didn’t get a picture, but Scooby Doo tousled the hair when he walked passed.
There are also more recent movie characters, like the entire cast of the Despicable Me franchise.
The girls loved my t-shirt.
Most of the character encounters are in Universal Studios, but you can meet your favorite Marvel super heroes at Islands of Adventure.
One of the best parts, is that the wait times/lines to meet the characters are shorter compared to other theme parks.
Fun Photo Ops
Since the majority of visitors are roaming around Hogsmede or Diagon Alley, there’s ample time to explore the other lands for fun photo ops. The areas usually aren’t crowded, making it easy to snap a good picture.
Universal does a great job setting up opportunities for a little amusement.
It can feel silly in the moment, but when I get home, zany shots end up being some of my favorite pictures.
Seuss Landing
Long before the foundation of Hogwarts Castle was built, two crazy kids went to Orlando to celebrate their one year anniversary.
During that visit, Seuss Landing was my favorite land at Universal, and I’m still fond of it today.
I’m always up for an opportunity to feel like a kid.
There are bright colors, and whimsy galore.
All of the rides have exuberant energy.
It’s three months later and I’m still singing,
“One Fish, Two Fish, Up, Up, Up….”
If you visit Islands of Adventure, you must make time for Seuss Landing.
It’s worth venturing out of The Wizarding World to see what else Universal Orlando has to offer, and maybe you will discover a few favorite things along the way.

atThe last time I went to Universal, the Harry Potter world didn’t even exist! I guess it’s about time to go back and check things out. I always liked the rides at Universal more than Disney. The Simpson’s area is so fun.

atSeuss Landing looks too cool! I never see anything about this, so good to know it’s there! Like Barbara, the last time I was at Universal Studios was in 1997, way before Harry Potter was even a thing. Would love to go back soon!
