Famous for starring in an episode of the television show SCRUBS, the Hope Town Harbour Lodge, is an ideal place to stay when visiting Elbow Cay, Bahamas.
Relying on the whims of our own two feet for transportation, we chose the Hope Town Harbour for its location. Only steps away from the ferry dock, and adjacent to the island’s main town, Hope Town, Hope Town Harbour Lodge offers easy access to restaurants, beaches, and activities.
Rooms
Visitors can choose between staying in the main lodge,
or an on-the-beach cottage.
Though the cottages looked magical, for us, the price was the difference between taking one winter getaway trip or two.
Our main lodge room has a nice view of the harbor from the front, a relaxing balcony in the back,
a cozy bed,
a nice shower, and complementary, bottles of water.
Beach
After location, my next top criteria for a Bahamas accommodation, is the beach. The Hope Town Harbour Lodge did not disappoint. The lodge provided plenty of comfy lounge chairs, and umbrellas for the easily burned.
Much time is spent loafing in the loungers, watching and listening to the peaceful waves.
The beach is even more beautiful at sunset.
One of the nice touches, is the sand wash off station. A quick spray down ensured that we didn’t track heaps of sand into our room.
Pool
The lodge also has a charming pool area, thoughtfully set up for long afternoons of group socializing. We didn’t spend any time at the pool, with so many places on property to unwind, we ran out of time.
I’ve never met a hammock I didn’t like.
Reef Bar and Grill
In the morning, we are treated to complimentary coffee and tea.
Coffee is great, but coffee with a view, and no schedule or place to have to be, is the best.
Since the Hope Town Coffee Shop is closed on Sundays, we have breakfast at the lodge. Our food is excellent.
After a substantial time chilling out on the beach, we feel a bit peckish. Not wanting to spoil our dinner, we order a couple of nibbles from the bar in the form of jalapeno popper, and fries. They are exactly what we were craving.
Being in The Bahamas, it didn’t seem proper to sit at the bar without a colorful drink in hand.
The Great Harbour Room
Once again, since many restaurants are closed on Sunday, we settle into Hope Town Harbour Lodge’s romantic, Great Harbour Room.
We dine on comforting, Lobster Ravioli and Seafood Supreme.
We couldn’t leave The Bahamas without having at least one piece of rum cake.
Stay Here
On a mission to get some much needed rest, the Hope Town Harbor Lodge, checked all the boxes. Great location, excellent rooms, picture perfect grounds, and a sprawling beach. If you decide to visit Elbow Cay, Bahamas, it’s a terrific place to stay.
