With its outstanding scenery and beachy vibes, Cape Town is the perfect place to sample ice cream.

Crumbs and Cream – Sea Point

I love churros. I love ice cream. Ever since I found out that churro ice cream sandwiches were a thing, I’ve been on a quest to try one. We tried to acquire one during our visit to Disneyland, but failed, so when I see it on the menu at Crumbs and Cream, I know my quest is complete.

Crumbs and Cream specialize in ice cream sandwiches. You pick your cookie (or churro), your ice cream, and a topping. Your custom creation is assembled right before your eyes.

I went with Churros, Banana Fudge ice cream, and Crushed Graham Cracker.

The ice cream is nice and creamy, with a great punch of flavor. The churros are light and flaky.

Each item on its own is tasty, but I will admit that together, it is a little too sweet. I think if I create my own sandwich again, I’d pick a milder cookie, or a milder ice cream to balance the sweetness.

It’s neat being able to pick out your ingredients, then watch your ice cream sandwich being made. Crumbs and Cream is a fun ice cream spot.

Addictions – Camps Bay

We want to take a relaxing walk on Camps Bay’s beach, but after becoming overwhelmed, as tout after tout persistently follow us, we cross the street to escape into a shopping centers. That is when we stumble upon Addictions.

Not wanting to turn down a chance to taste homemade ice cream, we order a couple of scoops.

Shannon got a scoop of Blueberries and Cream and Pistachio. I got a scoop of Coffee and Fudge and Brownies.

I can see why it’s called Addictions. The ice cream is good. I am especially impressed with the Fudge and Brownies. Sometimes this type of flavor ends up having little to no brownies and the brownies just taste of vague, cold, chocolate. At Addictions, there are plentiful, sizable, brownie chunks, that taste like just- out- of- the- oven brownies (minus the warmth of course).

Addictions is tucked away on the quiet, second floor of the Promenade Centre.

Feeling flustered after our beach walk fail, Addictions is an ice cream oasis.

If you are visiting Camps Bay, seek it out for a lovely, peaceful place, to enjoy some yummy (literally, it’s the name of one of their flavors) ice cream.

For the Love of Yummyness – V&N Food Market – V&A Waterfront

This place was on my list before we even leave for Cape Town. How could I resist the name?

Waffles and Crepes are on the menu at For the Love of Yummyness.

Being a peanut butter addict, I have to get The Elvis, a waffle, covered in bananas, peanut butter, and vanilla ice cream.

Being able to sit at the counter and watch the waffles being made, adds to the experience. It is like watching a graceful, waffle, ballet.

The Elvis is inspiring.

To be honest, I’m usually not much of a waffle fan, but I’m convinced that is because I’ve never had a proper waffle. The waffle at For the Love of Yummyness, is the lightest, fluffiest, waffle, I have ever had. The outside has the perfect amount of crisp, and the inside dissolved in my mouth with an effortless, airy, goodness.

I wasn’t sure about the soft serve instead of hard ice cream, but it is a piece of brilliance. The extra creamy soft serve, easily melts into the nooks and crannies of the waffle.

The banana, peanut butter, ice cream combo, is bliss. If I had more stomachs, I could eat five Elvis waffles.

Visit For the Love of Yummyness for some great crepe/waffle ice cream creations.

The Creamery Cafe – Mouille Point

The fact that I didn’t visit The Creamery Cafe until our last day in Cape Town is a good and bad thing. Good for my waistline, bad for my ice cream obsessed taste buds.

After a substantial lunch, we opt for one scoop.

Shannon is excited to see Rooibos ice cream on offer, and of course, I can’t pass up the Peanut Butter.

From the first bite, the ice cream envelopes me in an ultra creamy hug. Both of our flavors are perfectly balanced. Great bursts of flavor, but not overly sweet. The peanut butter ice cream tied with Sprinkles as the best peanut butter ice cream I’ve had so far.

After some deliberation, we agree that not only is The Creamery Cafe our favorite ice cream in Cape Town, we add it to the list of the best ice cream we’ve had during our travels so far. Had we visited sooner during our trip, we would have made several visits.

If you are in Cape Town, grab a scoop, or two, at The Creamery Cafe.

We are impressed with the ice cream offerings in Cape Town, and there are still plenty of  ice cream places that we didn’t get to visit. If you’re an ice cream enthusiast like me, Cape Town is a worthy destination.

Excuse me while I wipe the drool from my face. You found a lot of mouthwatering ice creams in Cape Town! It’s hard to choose just one of these I’d want to try, but I’m really intrigued by Crumbs and Cream since I also love both ice cream and churros. As a fellow ice cream lover and foodie, Cape Town is definitely on my bucket list, so I’m pinning this for future reference. #WeekendWanderlust

Cape Town is a great foodie city. Crumbs and Cream is such a fun concept. If I lived there I’d return a lot to try all of the different combinations.
