The weather in Cape Town, is fascinating. It’s not unusual for the weather to be one way on one side of the mountain and completely opposite on the other.

We finish our jazz brunch at Harvey’s, on a patio flooded with sunshine, but as our Hop on Hop Off Bus winds its way around Table Mountain, en route to Kirstenbosch Garden, the sky turns gray, and raindrops begin to dot the windows.

Gardens are one of our favorite places to visit when we travel. As Kirstenbosch is often hailed as one of the most scenic gardens in the world, we are determined to visit, rain or shine.

Arriving to Kirstenbosch Garden on a rainy day, affords the visitor a view of a mountain shrouded in mist. It’s mysterious and magical. I could not have asked for our visit to start in a better way.

Not long after passing through the entrance, the rain lets up.

You will need a map at Kirstenbosch Garden. It is sprawling, and some of the paths lead to more substantial hiking trails. If you are there just to traipse among the flowers, you’ll want to be sure to stay on course.

It feels as if we’ve cheated mother nature, or stolen a time machine. At home, fall is in full swing, but Cape Town is bursting into spring. We get to have a year with two springs. Isn’t travel amazing?

We are so fortunate to visit Kirstenbosch Garden at such a beautiful time of year. We take an endless amount of pictures.

The colorful flowers cheer my spirit.

The views are incredible in every direction.

A fan of things dinosaur, the dinosaur path makes me smile.

The sculpture garden brims with creativity and color.

Acting like a big kid, I play around in the giant, spider-looking tree in the garden’s Enchanted Forest. I try to find the secret entrance to…well you know, the kind of mythical place that would have a secret tree entrance, but alas, I am unsuccessful.

Our favorite part of Kirstenbosch Garden, is the Tree Canopy Walkway.

The views mixed with the amplified sound of the birds chirping is a treat for the senses.

The walkway is a magnificent way to see the gardens and soak up the mountain scene.

Unless you absolutely hate gardens, spending time at Kirstenbosch Garden while in Cape Town, is a must. The views are inspiring, the nature is brilliant, and the whole place bubbles with an it’s-good-to-be-alive-energy.

Travel is amazing in all its forms, even when the weather isn’t what most would consider ideal. I love that you lived in the moment and made the best of it, seeing the unconventional beauty of the rainy day. These gardens are so lovely! #weekendwanderlust

We visited Kirstenbosch at about the same time as you. We loved it. Kirstenbosch in spring is magical.

It really was magical. With all of the mountain views everywhere it was different from any garden we’ve been to so far.
